In association with the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Family Day (held October 1st, 2011), a 48-page Resource Guide was created for Lewiston and Auburn parents. It contains some tips and information in areas such as mental health, suicide prevention, early childhood development, substance abuse prevention, and violence prevention. The Resource Guide also has information for the agencies and organizations that work as part of the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative or who had a booth or program as part of the Family Day.
You can download a free copy of the Resource Guide here.
What is the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiatve?
The Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is a federal grant secured by the partnership of Lewiston and Auburn Public Schools.
The Initiative is a partnership between school districts and law enforcement agencies, mental health services organizations, juvenile services, and other community organizations. The goal is to use programs and services with proven track records to provide our students with safer school environments.
Healthy Androscoggin is working with the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative to implement programs like Families in Action and the Medicine Disposal Days while also developing policies and systems to reduce and prevent substance abuse by students in the Lewiston and Auburn communities.
